After last night’s emotional opening of the exhibit in honor of the late Mish Michaels (Anuradha Mukherjee) the well-loved meteorologist, everyone gathered atop the newly restored Blue Hill Observatory to enjoy the view and evening breeze. It was a fitting culmination of years of effort by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the architect T2 Architecture, the Blue Hill Observatory staff, Content•Design, and Trivium Interactive.
The work done by T2 Architecture, ensured that everyone climbing the ladder-like stairs felt confident, and the security felt atop the newly reinforced and restored 40-foot tall crenelated tower that featured two equipment towers secured to it. The contractor, Louis C. Allegrone, encountered many challenges! Water leakage has been a problem since the tower was built in 1885 and only time will tell if 21st century building-skin technology will put an end to this recurring problem.
