This brand-new park in West Roxbury resulted from the Menino Project initiative, which “created an interface between the academic community and the people by bringing together academics with a local advisory board to work collaboratively on a plan”. Envisioning a new public use of the Gardner Street landfill was an outcome of this Project. While capped and open to the public in 2000, it took another 20 years for the full vision of walking trails and modern play areas to be realized. Now Content•Design will provide the context with a three-panel exterior exhibit program—you are standing on a former landfill; see the man-made meadow, and do your part in keeping this place special for all, humans and non-human animals alike!
